“I was pleasantly pleased with all the material covered in this program. All the presenters were upbeat, positive, and sincerely happy to be there teaching us. I was extremely grateful to have my resume “tweaked” and updated. During this “COVID” time, access to resources are almost non-existent. This opportunity was a blessing.”
“Thank you for teaching me the basic computer skills I needed to know to start my resume, learning how to word things properly, and learning how to give the nest first impression for interviews, how to sit and speak with the right amount of eye contact and feeling comfortable and professional in presenting. It all worked, now I have a job and another interview for another job. I feel good about myself and the positive direction my life is going in, as well as loving what recovery brings to us when we have places like this to help. I had no idea where to start, and now everything is happening so fast. Thank you!”
“I’ve spent my entire adult life in one prison or another. I’m very anxious for the future. I have been sober for 17 months and honestly having the time of my life. The support I’m receiving from the recovery community is unbelievable. Unconditional support is new to me and somewhat awkward. However, I’m learning to accept the process. I’ve spent more time away than many people have been alive. I absolutely owe myself an opportunity for a good sober life. And with the support team I have in place, I will succeed.”
“I’ve appreciated the classes at One Life at a Time so much. Of the programs available to people in recovery to enter the workforce, I have been amazed at the resources they provide. With One Life, I haven’t felt life a number on a report, this is not a program that only cares about placing clients in substance “Get Well” jobs, but have really committed to my long term recovery. The staff at One Life really do have a passion for improving lives. It has been invaluable to feel competent (not just confident). Validating me in the crucial time in early recovery when I’ve felt most unsure about myself. Leaving class, I know I have a team of talented people who will stay with me and who genuinely care not just my professional development, but for me. I’m confident that I’m going to make professional strides that will be greater than ever before because of the tools I have now.”
“One Life at a Time offers great resources to those who are unsure or insecure taking the next step forward in their life. Before this program, my resume scared and intimidated me beyond what words could describe. This program gave me direction, and helped me build my confidence in moving forward on a positive path. The people here genuinely care about you and your future. They offer help and resources at no cost, just to be available for people who may need their help, such as myself. I wouldn’t ever in a million years thought I would feel this ready and confident in putting my name and resume out there the way I do now. I owe a huge thank you to everyone at One Life at a Time. I look forward to the future with you guys.”
“I have nothing but good things to say about “One life at a time.” I have learned so much I was unaware how things have changed in the workforce. To begin, I had no idea that most resumes are read by computers. My resumes were historically two pages long and did not contain the buzzwords that the computers picked up. No wonder I wasn’t getting responses. I also appreciated learning about the in”s and outs of Indeed. I have since filled out the assessments and narrowed down my work search. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and professional. At this point I feel very confident going for a job interview. My job coach Ron spent time after class working with me on specific job opportunities and providing me with individual coaching. Mike, Leslie and Justin were so friendly and helpful. I did the program virtually but was made to feel that I was in the classroom. All my needs were attended to promptly. I highly recommend this program to anyone. I was provided with a wealth of knowledge that I will share with my friends and family. I am so grateful that this program is available. Keep up the good work and thank you very much.”
“I want to thank you for everything and being so kind to me. There’s not too many people like you in this world. I am truly grateful for one life at a time. It has helped me feel supported and confident and ready to take the next step in my career.”
“I liked the class, the people. Gave me something constructive to do. A step in the right direction.”
“Before I came into this class, I was lost. Honestly, I thought I wouldn’t even land an interview in a phase of my life where I had to make a career change and have had many different jobs, but no career. James, Kristen, Kris, Leslie, David, Pat, Mike, Keisha have all given me the ability to believe in my skills and Pat has built my confidence with my approach in the mock interviews. Being educated in the many phases of landing a job from Resumes, Networking, Interviewing, and actual job search has landed me interviews in the area I am going in to. I am going to make it a point to check in and take advantage of this amazing opportunity. Thank you so much.”
