THE NEXT RIGHT THING

The drug and alcohol epidemic has affected many peoples’ lives, both personally and professionally. So, what’s the next right thing?

While Chris was struggling to help her son get into recovery, and to get him the resources he needed to be successful, she found a system that was broken, and failing those going through it. She opened up her home, taking in those who needed assistance and a safe place. Chris helped them find detox and recovery programs, residential sobriety programs, and finding temporary support and resources until something more permanent could be found.

While on this journey, Chris met and formed relationships with other mothers who understood the struggles she was going through, and understood that the system was not built to help those in the most need, but to process them through as quickly as possible. Moms for Recovery was born out of a need for change. In the beginning, the group was twenty or so moms, some of whom had lost their family and friends, and others who where still fighting for the lives of those they loved. Today, the group is more than 130 strong, spreading their stories to promote change about how those with the disease are treated, breaking down the stigmas, and advocating for change with the court system and State and Federal leaders. Hope is not lost. Let us hear the stories of those who are gone, to help us save those who are still here to fight for.

There is more work to be done, and our advocacy work is far from over. If you would like to be involved, or would like to say news and information about the work we are doing, please sign-up below. Together we are changing lives. Together we are saving lives.
